Last Patch Tuesday for Windows 2000 and Windows XP SP2 Posted: 09 Jul 2010 09:00 AM PDT Microsoft published the Microsoft Security Bulletin Advance Notification for July 2010--revealing a relatively light month for patching. This coming Patch Tuesday will have only four security bulletins, but it's a crucial day for many IT administrators, as it also marks the end of Microsoft support for Windows 2000 and Windows XP SP2. |
NSA 'Perfect Citizen' Program is Only One Piece of the Cyber Security Puzzle Posted: 09 Jul 2010 09:00 AM PDT It is the job of the National Security Agency (NSA) to protect US national security systems, which includes the critical infrastructure--whether public or private sector--that forms the backbone of national defense and commerce for the country. NSA 'Perfect Citizen' Raises 'Big Brother' Concerns Posted: 08 Jul 2010 09:00 AM PDT The NSA (National Security Agency) of the United States is implementing a new program to monitor for signs of cyber attacks against government assets, or public and private sector entities like power companies and water treatment plants--companies that make up the critical infrastructure of the nation. The "Perfect Citizen" program is invoking fears of "Big Brother" as well, though, as some question the motives of the NSA initiative. |
The Robin Sage experiment: Fake profile fools security pros Posted: 08 Jul 2010 09:00 AM PDT Despite the warnings security professionals preach about the dangers of social networking, it appears many aren't taking their own advice. That's one of the messages behind a talk at Black Hat later this month called "Getting in bed with Robin Sage" (Read about another social engineering experiment being presented at DefCon) |
